Ragged Point Inn

Description

Ragged Point Inn and Resort is the only place to stay on this quaint stretch of Highway 1, just south of Big Sur. The family owned hotel offers inviting accommodations, has an on-site restaurant, and can also host events. If that’s not enough, this quiet spot along the Pacific Ocean has some of the best views anywhere in California.

Location

Ragged Point is the southern boundary to the Big Sur coastline along Highway 1. This portion of the area is so scenic it’s often used as the backdrop for car commercials. But we recommend you put the car in park and stay awhile. From here you can explore the famed Big Sur to the north or lesser known San Simeon to the south. There is excellent hiking in the area, including the Ragged Point Cliffside Trail. This somewhat strenuous trek pays with a black sand beach and the aptly named Black Swift Falls

Rooms

There are four room types for visitors at Ragged Point Inn and Resort. The Cliff-Side Rooms and Deluxe Cliff-Top Rooms are a touch of luxury. These accommodations are set atop a 350-foot cliff and provide panoramic views of the Pacific. The Inn’s Garden Rooms are set back from the cliff and include ocean or mountain views. For a special treat, check out the Cliff House. This luxury option is perfect for groups and special events with its five separate rooms, each with a private bathroom. It has views of both the Santa Lucia Mountains and the Pacific.

Amenities

To the delight of guests, Ragged Point Inn and Resort offers only non-smoking rooms. There are flat screen TVs with satellite in each room. The Inn is also pet friendly. When you’re hungry, the gourmet Ragged Point Restaurant is on-site with breakfast, lunch and dinner. If you’re in a hurry or want something lighter, there is a cafe with sandwiches, wine and espresso.
