Cayucos Beachfront House
This immaculate ocean-front home has a private stairway to one of the most beautiful beaches in California. The views from the hardwood deck are stunning: Morro Rock to the south, Point Estero to the north, miles of uncrowded beach in between. You can stroll for miles on the beach, beachcombing and exploring the tide pools. Younger members of the family can try their hand at surfing or boogey boarding, or build sand castles while their parents watch from the deck. When you return from the beach, at the top of the steps is an outdoor shower (hot and cold water!) to wash off the sand and salt.
The recently remodeled great room is also designed to take maximum advantage of the view. You can watch the sun set over the water while eating dinner, or watch the fog swirl around Morro Rock while relaxing on the sofa. Depending on the season, you are likely to see dolphins or sea otters swimming just offshore, and further offshore you might even see a whale spout. In the evening, you might decide to light a fire in the gas-burning fireplace. The sound of the surf will probably be the only sound you hear, unless you put a CD in the stereo, or turn on the TV to check out one of the many cable channels.
There are two immaculate bedrooms, with baths en suite. Children often choose to play, and sleep, in the loft overlooking the great room. The large kitchen is fully equipped, including a new range, dishwasher, refrigerator, and microwave. There’s a single-car garage (large SUVs might not fit), and parking in front for two vehicles.
The area’s attractions don’t stop at the shoreline. Cayucos and nearby Morro Bay abound in great restaurants, antique stores, and unique boutiques. A thirty-minute drive will take you to world famous Hearst Castle, at San Simeon, and the elephant seal rookery at Piedras Blancas. The charming city of San Luis Obispo is only twenty minutes away. You can tour the Mission, check out the Thursday night Farmer’s Market, or perhaps take in a world-class performance at Cal Poly’s Performing Arts Center. Just south of San Luis Obispo is the world-famous Edna Valley wine-growing region, famous for its chardonnays and Rhone varietals.
A half-hour drive east, around Paso Robles and Templeton, you’ll find more great restaurants, and friendly wineries that produce some of California’s finest zinfandels, cabernet sauvignons, and other red wines that have made this region one of the fastest-growing tourist destinations in California.
California’s Central Coast has everything for an enjoyable vacation, and our beach house is the ideal place to stay. The most difficult part of your stay will be deciding what to do next.
