Pure Bliss Old Town Spa

Husband-and-wife team Rudy and Kathleen Stowell have devoted two decades to the wellness industry, including ownership of Nipomo’s Pure Bliss Old Town Spa. This full-service property offers an extremely flexible and customizable menu of treatments like massage, facials, waxing, lashes, and peels. One of Pure Bliss Old Town Spa’s most unique services is the option to get a massage up to two hours long. Most spas or massage retreats offer 60- or 90-minute massages. At Pure Bliss, clients can choose 30-, 45-, 75-, or 120-minute treatments. (Guests are encouraged to reserve 30- and 45-minute massages for focused work, and more time for full-body massage.)

The spas knowledgeable massage therapists work in a number of modalities like traditional Swedish massage, lymphatic drainage massage, deep tissue massage, and Esalen massage. These, as well as prenatal massage for mothers-to-be, can be performed in one of three individual massage rooms, or in the unique Tandem Room. This room has a clawfoot tub for two people, plus two massage tables for side-by-side bodywork. Guests can soak in the tub and nibble on refreshments, then head to the massage table for up to two hours together. Of the five treatment rooms at Pure Bliss, the Tandem Room is the most requested.

As for skincare, Pure Bliss Old Town Spa uses IMAGE cosmetics, a clinical-grade, clean, botanical line of products that produces results. Treatments on the menu include illuminating facials for minimizing hyperpigmentation, purifying facials for acne, anti-oxidant facials and microdermabrasion. Pure Bliss also developed a menu of peels, including peels to address sensitive skin, redness, hydration, uneven skin tone, age spots, and wrinkles.

The spa serves clients with full waxing capabilities, from eyebrows and upper lips to legs, arms, and underarms. You can also receive lash extensions or have them removed at Pure Bliss. When your treatment is complete, be sure to wander through the spa’s boutique, which features bodycare, gifts, candles, apparel and more.
