David Helvarg, author of seven books, and Executive Director of Blue Frontier, an ocean policy group will speak to us about his new book, Forest of the Sea: The Remarkable Life and Imperiled Future of Kelp. David is an award-winning journalist, co-host of the Rising Tide Ocean Podcast, editor of the Ocean and Coastal Conservation Guide and co-founder of the Peter Benchley Ocean Awards. David is also a licensed Private Investigator, body surfer and scuba diver.

David’s book, is a stark reminder that although this underwater world of color and beauty is at grave risk, ordinary citizens working together to restore and protect kelp forests offer hope for the future of our oceans.
