Visitors learn about local shark species while watching them interact with each other and feed. Central Coast Aquarium exhibits feature local species of sharks, including the Horn Shark, which has horns that grow out of its back, the Swell Shark, that can swallow water and swell up to avoid predators, and the Grey Smooth-Hound Shark, a sleek and powerful hunter.
On exhibit, the Aquarium also has rays that are close relatives to sharks; they scoot along the sandy bottom of the ocean vacuuming up food as they go. Knowledgeable and well trained volunteers provide interesting shark and ray facts during the feeding tour. After the tour, the whole family is invited to experience the popular shark touching with the gentle Swell Sharks, and learn even more about these magnificent and misunderstood creatures of the deep.
