Malene Wines
Crafted with uncompromising viticultural and winemaking techniques, Malene is a testament to the intentional dedication to rosé that is in every bottle. We can think of no better way to share Malene on tap with our friends who love rosé than in our ’69 Airstream mobile tasting room. Reflective of the wine itself, our mobile tasting room – known as the “Malene Scene” – is parked adjacent to Chamisal Vineyards’ winery in San Luis Obispo for the summer months, but it can easily hit the road and head to the beach or music festivals to serve rosé on tap.
“Rosé has grown up and it’s a joy to work on a brand like Malene Wines that is solely devoted to crafting rosé,” says winemaker Fintan du Fresne. “I’ve embraced the challenge to present three distinctive styles of rosé, and I was inspired to elevate the wine from something juicy and delicious that one sips on a summer afternoon, to something that one thinks about as a serious wine.”
In addition to crafting intentional rosés from Santa Barbara County, we’ve also created component wines to highlight some of our favorite traditional rosé varietals: Rolle (Vermentino) and Grenache Noir. All of our wines are available to taste and purchase at the Malene Airstream, located in San Luis Obispo.
The name Malene (ma·lene \mə-ˈlēn\) is inspired by the semi-precious gem tourmaline, which can be found in many parts of the world, including California where the gemstone exhibits an exquisite watermelon-pink hue.
