Mason Bar & Kitchen
The building occupied by Mason Bar & Kitchen was once JJ’s Market, an institution on Branch Street in the Arroyo Grande Village. When the market went out of business, the owners of Mason Bar decided to upcycle the old building as a restaurant and bar. At the entrance, turn left to sit down in the restaurant, or turn right to belly up to the bar. Mason Bar & Kitchen serves lunch, dinner, and weekend brunch, as well as cocktails, local wines, craft beer, and more. The restaurant highlights fresh local produce, with elevated pub food dishes and classics with a modern twist. The cocktail program continues in the same spirit, making use of the season’s bounty from local farms and herb gardens.
Mason Bar’s mixologists mix their own house syrups, press their own juices, and shape their own ice for each drink that’s ordered. Order your favorite classic cocktail, a barrel-aged cocktail, or choose from a selection of signature drinks, only available at Mason Bar & Kitchen. Taste the “Mason Smash,” a blend of Buffalo Trace bourbon, aloe liqueur, lemon, simple syrup, and muddled fresh orange and mint. The “Village Vesper” brings together Hendry’s vodka, Empress gin, a bit of Lillet Blanc and a lemon twist. Or throw down the gauntlet with “The Throne,” a cocktail fit for a king, made with Rémy Martin “Louis XIII” 100 Yr. Cask-Aged Cognac. Mason Bar excels with its whiskey offerings, pouring 25 bourbons and whiskeys. For beers, Mason Bar rotates its 20 taps regularly with producers like Lost Coast, Allagash, Maine Beer Company, and Russian River Brewing. The taps also put local brewers in the spotlight with Firestone-Walker, SLO Brew, Central Coast Brewing, There Does Not Exist, and more. A selection of local and international wines are available by the glass and by the bottle, including producers like Sans Liege, Saxum, Daou and Opolo.
