Humdinger Brewing
In a space that once served as a dance studio and, later, a performing arts academy, Humdinger Brewing has installed stainless steel brew tanks. Spacious, bright, and inviting, Humdinger Brewing opened in the charming Village of Arroyo Grande in 2019. This is a seasonally-driven brewery with a wide selection of rotating beers, as well as a core selection of favorites. Find 12 taps featuring beers brewed right on site, including blonde ales, sours, lagers, IPAs, wheat beers, stouts, Pilsners, and fruit beer. Guest taps and collaborative beers include brews like “The Friend Zone,” a soft hazy New England IPA made with Central Coast Brewing. Gluten-averse folks can find SLO Cider, Whalebird Kombucha and local wines on the menu. Humdinger is also a brewpub, serving tasty dishes that pair seamlessly with the beers they serve. Try the Alaskan halibut with vegetables and pasta in Gorgonzola sauce. Or tuck into a plate of parmesan shrimp, polenta, and bacon. The pub also serves appetizers like fries, nachos, chicharrones, beer nuts, and more. Sit on the patio to watch the village shoppers and diners walk by, or enjoy perching at the opening of the wide roll-up garage doors with a nice view. You may also want to come for live music, which is a core offering of the brewery. Punk bands, reggae, rock and singer-songwriter indie musicians often take the stage, right beside the fermentation tanks. Don’t miss “Dinger After Dark” nights, in which local and traveling DJs spin dance tunes until the wee hours. (This is a standout experience in quaint Arroyo Grande!) If you’re seeking well-made, delicious beer and food in a casual, modern setting, Humdinger is worth a visit.
