The Morgan
Description
The Morgan at San Simeon is named after famed architect Julia Morgan. She is the noted California architect who designed world famous Hearst Castle in 1919. She also contributed to Hearst buildings on the Berkeley campus, including the Mining Building and the Greek Theater. Today, the Morgan prides itself on being a “refined yet approachable” stop for travelers of Highway 1.
Location
Located in the quaint coastal town of San Simeon, The Morgan is a midpoint between San Francisco and Los Angeles. Beyond just Hearst Castle, the town is also known for the elephant seals that visit the beaches throughout the year. It’s also a short drive to Gateway to Big Sur, the artistic town of Cambria and the noteworthy Paso Robles wine region.
Rooms
The Morgan at San Simeon has 56 guest rooms and suites across its two buildings. All rooms are non-smoking and pet-friendly options are available. Standard Guest Rooms can include one king or two queen beds. For convenience, these are all located on the first floor. Deluxe Guest Rooms are located on both the first and second floors. They are available with one king of two queen beds and include a gas fireplace and more space. There is a Standard King ADA room on the first floor.
There are three suite types available at The Morgan. Oceanside Junior Suites are corner rooms with partial ocean views and gas fireplace. They include a king bed and large bathroom. Hillside Junior Suites are similar to Oceanside, but with views of the surrounding hillsides. The Morgan Suite is the hotel’s top tier offering. In addition to being the largest room, it has a private living room, large bathroom, gas fireplace and plush king bed.
Amenities
There are plenty of amenities to enjoy at the hotel. There is a Grab & Go breakfast served each morning to start the day. WiFi is included in the lobby, lounge and rooms. Luxury linens and bath products are provided in all rooms. Ceiling fans and mini fridges are also included in all rooms. The outdoor pool includes a comfortable lounge area for relaxation.
