Oktoberfest on Highway 1

The fun and festivities of a traditional Oktoberfest celebration can be had right here in coastal San Luis Obispo County. From beer gardens and brats to car shows and live music, these events will make you want to drag out your lederhosen and stein! Some celebrations are only for ages 21 and older, while others welcome the whole family. However you like to Oktoberfest, these SLO coast events will put you in high spirits for fall.

Oktoberfest Los Osos

A tradition for several decades, this annual Oktoberfest celebration combines the benefits of a lively street fair and a fantastic car and motorcycle show. Free to attend and family-friendly, this event takes over Second Street in Baywood Park with vendors, live music, craft beers, pet costume competitions, kids’ activities and more.

Date: Last Sunday in October

Food and drink: craft beer, local wines, food vendors

Activities: live music, arts and crafts, kids’ activities, fun run, motorcycle and car show, pancake breakfast, beer garden

Ages allowed: all ages; must be 21 to consume any form of alcohol

Car show: almost 100 cars and motorcycles from antique to classic

Oktoberfest Avila Beach

The Avila Beach Golf Resort provides a backdrop for this high-energy Oktoberfest event. Authentic German cuisine pairs with traditional German Oktoberfest beer (sponsored in part by Hofbräuhaus in Munich, the global heart of Oktoberfest) for a delicious day in the sun. Hear live, local music, participate in games like knockerball, and compete in a costume contest, all with a view of the ocean.

Farmers market, Avila Beach

Oktoberfest Cambria

This family-friendly fall tradition takes place at Cambria’s Pinedorado Grounds in tandem with the Scarecrow Festival. The day features arts and crafts, beer, wine and brats for purchase, live music, and an announcement of Scarecrow Festival award winners on the Pinedorado Stage.

Date: mid-October

Food and drink: Pretzels, brats, sauerkraut, beer and wine

Activities: family activities, games, live music, Scarecrow Festival award winners announcement

Ages allowed: all ages

Oktoberfest Templeton

An afternoon for grown-ups only, this event offers unlimited samples from a comprehensive list of beer, cider and wine producers with admission. Tasty German cuisine, games, and a costume contest add to the fun.

Date: early October

Food and drink: Admission to the event includes unlimited samples from local and regional beer, cider and wine producers. German-themed food is available for purchase.

Activities: beer garden, best-dressed costume contest, stein-holding competition, bounce houses (for adults), corn hole, beer pong.

Ages allowed: 21+ only
